  • Question about World Championship 2010 format

Been on various websites about the tickets for this years tournament.
Does anyone know whether the match numbers in the the qualifiers and the match numbers for the actual tourmanent run alongside each other? Providing he qualifies of course would like to watch Jamie Cope.

    eg.
Match 14 qualifiers 9th March is Jamie Cope v ??? would the winner then procced to play Match 14 in the tournament which is Stephen Hendry? or is there another draw?

    Hope this makes sense.

The qualifiers are drawn in randomly usually the day after the final qualifying round.

Another question on the format (my first post so please be gentle).

Does anyone know what the length of the morning 10am sessions are scheduled for please? Is it time or number of frames based, I can't remember.

I've got some tickets for Sunday 18th AM session and just working out train times for the way home. I'm guessing they have to be done well in advance of the afternoon session at 2:30pm.

        Thanks.

Its number of frames. For first round matches its best of 19 played over two sessions. First session (your match) is 8 frames with a "comfort break" after 4 frames. Unless the players get really bogged down in safety the session will be finished by 2.30. There's a rule which says that a frame cannot be started a certain time before the next session. (Think its 40mins) so you might only see 7 frames in theory.

Its actually 9 frames in the first session in the first round with a possible 10 in the second.

Thanks Alex. My mistake. Round 2 goes 8-8-9. 3 Sessions. They used to put the number of frames on the application form but not this year.

Thank you both for the rapid replies.

So I'll plan to get a train after 14:30, just in case. Don't want to get snookered (terrible I know) on my journey home...
