Like to see Ding pull it off, he is the player in the near future who will be ronnies successor, but needs a little more ring experience yet, he showed glimpses of what he is capable of and watching that there felt at times i was watchng Ronnie..... I can only think of a 1 liner to sum it up ..... Youre skills are extaodinary mr williams.., Back to the poll, i think for me its MJW!!!

With Ding it seems it depends who would he meet in the final... (so far this year it looks like he's losing it's either in R1 or in the final. Higgins would of probably won the UK had he not met Ronnie in the semis). Maybe that's a bit too harsh, but I think he bottled in China.Co-winner of Spike’s 2009 UK Championship number of centuries prediction contest.

I'm looking forward to when the draw will take into account 1-year/provisional rankings (in Hearn's list somewhere), this year it's quite a bit too crazy for Williams-Selby-Ronnie-Hendry, and Liang, Doherty, Anda Zhang can feel unlucky too; while it looks a little too easy for some others, to advance to QF/SF stage at least.
Anda Zhang to be a surprise in this year WC - first to Hendry, and then to a few more on his way Say Ronnie somehow advances to QF only to lose to another "wild card"Co-winner of Spike’s 2009 UK Championship number of centuries prediction contest.

difficult i am not sure who i will back yet but i think williams and hendry from the old guard are both playing well enough and both step up to the big games. maguire robertson carter and day are the great younger players not to have won it yet - but i don't like carters draw so not sure yet!

I´m very much in doubt about this, as I see a lot of favorits, but to me there isn´t one person standing out from the others. My vote went to Neil Robertson, but I think Higgins, O´Sullivan, Carter, Ding, Selby and Williams have a chance as well.
Hendry or Ebdon could maybe make the surprise, but will they last for a whole tournament.
Maguire and Murphy have the ability to win, but they haven´t really shown anything by their standard this season, so I don´t expect them to get very far into the tournament.....its not called potting its called snooker. Quote: WildJONESEYE

No votes for Ebdon, Cope, Wenbo or Fu, but allready 3 for Anda Zhang ???? Am I missing something ? The guy just stayed on the tour by getting a fine victory against Ricky Walden, but from here to beeing a world champion.
When Murphy won his title, he had been around a couple of years, nearly beating Higgins at one occasion.....its not called potting its called snooker. Quote: WildJONESEYE

Now of the ones left... which guys who have won it will likely never win it again:
Peter Ebdon
Steve Davis
Graeme Dott
Ken Doherty
Which of the "newer players" don't yet have the skill, experience or bottle to go all the way:
Mark King
Marco Fu
Joe Perry
Ding Junhui
Stephen Maguire
Mark Allen
Ryan Day
Who are the "newer players" left:
Neil Robertson
Mark Selby
Shaun Murphy
Ali Carter
Who are the "old guard" left:
Mark Williams
Ronnie O'Sullivan
Stephen Hendry
John Higgins
I think the winner will come from those 8, the Provisional 1,2,3,4,5,7,11,12.
Not a wild stretch, but, does anyone think someone will do a WTF One-Off this year?
=o)
Noel
