Even though Hendry looked a bit shaky for most of the match he held himself together brilliantly in the last three frames. Great pots and position and very good safety. Selby might get his hands full if he can continue like that.
Impressive performance by Zhang as a debutant. Kudos!
(Sidenote: It was amazing the number of times in the match where Hendry went smashing into the pack and landing on absolutely nothing...)
Very mature snooker for a youngster such as Zhang, he escaped from snooker so many times, and had some great safety shots. Any way, it's nice for me that he didn't progress in the second round because he played too slow.
The first match to really have any sort of tension. What a comeback from Hendry, I don't remember him missing a ball from 7-9, except when he already had the frames won.
Zhang played a couple of great shots towards the end, so you can't really say he bottled it in any way. What impressed me most was the part of the match where he went from 6-7 to 9-7. He saw that Hendry was playing like crap, so he just raised his game and went for the win. He gave me the impression that he would have won if he got a good scoring chance in the last three frames. But Hendry really did play good snooker towards the end. I have to admit that I felt a bit embarrassed for him earlier in the night, now I just feel embarrassed that I doubted him.
Best match of the Championship so far...Hendry looked something like his old self when he was 7-9 down, and did very well to take it to a deciding frame. Zhang had his chances to take the match, but a lack of experience at crucial times were very evident which was understandable.
Zhang certainly looks a good prospect for the future though..
"Statistics won't tell you much about me. I play for love, not records."
I feel really sorry for Zhang. Would be really nice to see someone of his age and talent make it to the later rounds. Guessed experience carried Hendry through.
Zhang certainly looks a good prospect for the future though..
I hope so, would like to see snooker become even more non-UK dominated. In saying that though, his Chinese counterpart Chuang - who played O'Sullivan first round in 2008 didn't do anything after qualifying for the crucible. Though I think he has his tour card back now.
LOL looks like Hendry is continuing his comebacks in 1st round at the crucible!

Martin Gould has been playing some very confident snooker for the last 3 frames & now leads 9-8 :snooker: I hope he can kill it in the next cos if it goes to a decider, I'm sure Fu's experience will make the difference!!!
Come On Martin!!! :snooker:
