I would say yes, they should both record comfortable wins, but you never know with the World Championships.

They could have got easier draws I suppose. They should win, but I don't necessarily see the getting a big lead in the first session.

Hawkins has a habit of hanging on to his opponents, and only losing by the odd frame, so Higgins will probably have to fight for it. But he usually responds very well to the pressure, so I think he will play as well as he needs to.

Allen against Ford should be a very open game, where it can always go either way. Allen is not the type of player who can easily change the pace and style of the match, but I think he will be strong enough to outplay Ford.

Allen is a brilliant player, definatley better than Ford, but like I have said, that means nothing in the World Championships. Some good coverage on Eurosport aswell.

Allen just made a steal (on the black?).

Yeah, apparently Ford made a break of 51, then Allen made a 51 break and stole it.

Good to see the return of the red carpet this year. Looks so much better than last years beige one. These small details matter. Its not obvious that the Crucible has been renovated though - looks exactly the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Btw, I might be attending the WC afterall this week to watch Mr. Davis as my holiday to Cyprus has already been rescheduled from Thursday to Sunday and is now on the verge of being cancelled as a result of the travel chaos. Every cloud has a silver lining.

                          Good morning all

                          Exciting times... Yeyyyy!!!

Barry is playing well & taking his chances quite well... I just hope if it gets close near the end, he'd able to hold himself together. He's leading 2-1 now.

                          Come On Bazza!!! :snooker:

And Mark Allen leads 3-0 on the other table

                          Come On Mark!!! :snooker:
