If a match on table 1 finishes early and the barrier is lifted, do those that stay get the commentary from table 2 piped through?! Always wondered that.

There is a scan button so you select which commentary to listen to. You can even watch 1 table and listen to another if you want

I've gathered from Statman's posts that you can choose which table's commentary to follow.

          Edit: too late

They had gone up to £6 when we went to the Welsh Open final this year, not sure if the pricing will be the same at every event though.

Yeah the new ones are six pounds at the crucible too.
As well as commentary you get the theme tune not good when you're scanning and that blurts out
I also swear once I got the eurosport commentators.

£6 isn't that bad really then. Quite good that you can listen to one table and watch the other.

No way! I always thought they were free...

God, they are making a steal then! Almost 1000 people in the Crucible, most people wearing those earpieces, that's £5000 per session for World Snooker! Genius!

I wouldn't pay £5 for one though. It should be included in the ticket charge

Yeah I have mine from last year, I've seen several different types, some from when 888.com sponsored the worlds, and some maplin ones as well (did they sponsor the uk championships at some point?)
So yeah you can re-use them at any venue.

Yes, Maplins sponsored the UK in 2008.

I've had my earpiece for years, did have to buy a new battery this year tho!!

Yeah I used mine from last years for this years.

Just keep replacing the battery and they should last a while.

I've never understood why someone would want to watch it live but have commentry in their ear. Its not like they dont know whats happening without it. Either watch it at home with commentry or in the arena with the atmosphere that goes with it.

Having said that if I did choose to have the commentry I would buy two so I can have it in stereo. I hate just using one earpiece.

I like listening to it every now and then but not all the time.

Take last year for instance, when I was listening to it during the Williams and Hendry match I heard the commentators saying Williams was having problems with his tip and that's why they took the interval early.

Without the ear piece I wouldn't have known why.
