    Well done Steve

    • What a blow for Higgins, that must hurt. I don't think Steve played better than this for years, a deserved victory. Now, if Gould can come through we will have a surpise semi-finalist.

        • The doubled brown in the last frame to move the blue is undoubtedly one of the shots of the championship so far.

AN unbelievable performance under pressure from Steve, but Higgins missed some easy balls I have to say.

Well played Nugget, looking forward to seeing him perform on Tuesday, even if I only see the odd frame after the curtain has gone up!

                  • WHAT A VICTORY, WHAT A MATCH

Great win for Steve Davis. Even at 11-9 i was sure Higgins will win, but Steve proved me wrong. Great stuff and now he can reach the semis. He should beat Gould and maybe go all the way....

                      • I still can't believe it. Steve must be absolutely buzzing right now. I want to see an interview with both of them.

                        • When I saw Steve's post-match press conference after the first round victory I almost cried... he was so excited, you'd swear he had won the whole thing. Now I think there isn't going to be an almost.... ahh what a treat at 5:00am. Well done Steve!

                          • It's going to be hard to beat this one for the match of the championship, at least in terms of atmosphere. I must admit I didn't really believe Davis had it in him to win it. But it was the first session, where he played brilliantly, that probably got him through in the end.

Higgins was disappointing, just missed too many easy chances. I guess it's more proof that a very good season can work against you at the WC. He just had nothing left. I wouldn't be surprised if the same happens to Ding now.

It's great to have a couple of unexpected players in the QF, but the downside is that this quarter has now probably become irrelevant in the context of the tournament. If Robertson loses today, it will leave two players without a realistic chance of winning the title. Kind of similar to last year, when the top quarter was left with Day and Allen in the QF, but perhaps even more unexpected.

They can certainly close the shot of the championship competition right now. Nothing will beat that Brown to win the match.
