gotta 2nd you here, mucka of all the muckas.

and why oh why 1 of them needs to go

if it continues in a similar way, i'd give advantage to josephine...
though it will be not funny at all if that happens, ronnie is cueing really good at the moment... and is decent with safeties, now that's almost surprising.
re his mood: it seems it's more like "let's play and see what happens".
although then it feels like josephine is always in such a state of mind

[logically, why would ronnie have (yet another?) coach around him now, if he would not want to win it?]

really could win all the tourny, any of those 2. but selby is still dungerous (because anything like deciders are often down to "who wants it more". and selby always wants it. and it's diffcult to avoid a decider with selby). and allen is fre*kin flying this year too and there's no joke dott hiding behind the corner...
yeah, this bottom half of the draw... maybe s davis will come out and deal with them all after they tire each other out

Great comeback from Ronnie, he did very well to level, mostly due to his safety in the 13th. Meow!
And Mark has been playing really, really well, attacking, precise, in the mood for show.

I was merely having a laugh, ian046, don't take it so seriously.
Plus, there are several ways to play around with punctuation in your sentence, and some of them quite naughty.

Kinda like that story about the prof who wrote on the blackboard “Woman without her man is nothing” and directed his students to punctuate it correctly.

The men wrote: “Woman, without her man, is nothing.”

The women wrote: “Woman: Without her, man is nothing.”

Suprisingly tension free session. Who will strike the knock out blow?

I think Jan Verhaas should have officiated this match. The Dutch man mountain could have provided the authority and/or controversy to ignite the occassion

The top quarter would have Higgins, Liang, Murphy and Day.
The second quarter would have Ding, Selby, Robertson and Fu.
The third quarter would have Carter, King, Maguire and Hendry.
And the bottom quarter would have O'Sullivan, Ebdon, Williams and Allen.

So the nastiest quarter would be the second one, where the UK champion would probably play the Masters champion in the 2nd round, with the Grand Prix champion to follow.

Higgins would still have a decent quarter, with one other contender waiting in the QF. O'Sullivan would still have Williams in his quarter, but this time not in the 2nd round. And the third quarter would end up without an obvious title contender, just like it is now.
Well then, not 2nd round meeting would be an improvement as well...
But 2Q would be overly crazy then too.

Though I would imagine that 'rolling rankings' would be based on even more recent results than provisional rankings (that's still almost 2 years), maybe 1-year rankings, or last x (last 6?) tournament's ranking, something recalculated for each tourney.
Now Ding, Higgins, Williams and Ronnie are top4 in this year's 1 year ranking, and 2 of them meet in round 2!
But even then say Selby could appear in any part of the draw with such a season like this - nothing impressive in ranking events, winning non-ranker Masters, and what can you do with him. So draw still would be a luck thing, but to a lesser degree, hopefully. And hopefully Maguire would not get it too easy then :-)

Must confess didn't read all that long Barry's document posted by Ferret, so can only do guesswork now

Great match so far. Neither of them able shake the other off. Tight, high quality matches are the salt of this sport. While I hope that we see the decider and MJW to prevail, I've got a feeling that someone is going to run away early on the last session (I hope I'm wrong). I'm already nervous, I'd really fancy Mark to take it this time but wouldn't be gutted if it was Ronnie in the end after such an entertaining tussle.

                Let the best player win.

Williams beating O'Sullivan will ease the pain that Higgins' departure has caused.

                      why? Surely it's
a better tournament with the best and most exciting player ever in it?

                      • I think the other players in the tournament are exciting too. So far, other than Davis, I think that the remaining players are all potential and worthy World Champions. I don't think O'Sullivan is the best ambassador to the game. In addition, I would like to so Williams do well.

No, Steve all the way, surely he can beat them all Joking apart, I also really hope for Williams to beat O'Sullivan, although I don't really think it can "ease the pain" since with Higgins the safety battles are more interesting and Williams, like O'Sullivan, is too much of a "potting only" player for my taste.

Williams is probably the best tactical and allround player on the circuit . He,s not just a potter watch and analyse his game he,s got everything and so has Ronnie . Along with Higgins and Selby they are the most complete players around .

I've been very impressed with Williams' safety play this season and his ability to wrap up scrappy, tactical frames to high percentage. He seems like a different man compared to the way he played 2 or 3 years ago, he now seems motivated and really wants to win, up for a battle anytime. His game is pretty much as complete as anyone's.

Yesterday and Saturday we have seen some great safety from both. Neither MJW or ROS are "potting only" players. What there is, actually, is that once they are in with half a good table they usually go for a winning break. This match has been a cracking one up to now, by far the best of the tournament in terms of quality. Stats tell us that ROS tactical game has been the best of the two while MJW's potting has been absolutely impressive... and that's how they're tied for now.
