    thanks arbitrage, noel & montoya!

wonder why I coudn't find that on youtube at once.

these Ronnie's interviews (youtube & global-snooker quotes) are kind of different to that bbc bit, Ronnie pays respect to Williams as an opponent, to Davis too. and seems to be avoiding direct answers to questions about Selby, mhm

maybe Ronnie has got some issues with that particular bbc interviewer?
if one'd want to make an "anti" sports interview of player's reaction after winning a tough&important match, one could choose exactly that interviewer's voice tone and those questions, and get those "anti" answers then.

noticed that williams interviews are often cool, will be checking up on them more often now

Ye they both respect each other thats for sure , ther,es a difference between respect and praise though and while mark was full of praise for ronnie , considering how well mark played and could have won , i did,nt hear the same praise comimg back .

I think this being overly negative/never happy enough with his game is mainly due to being a perfectionist. And being a perfectionist is kind of a curse, not so easy to relax and feel happy about the way you do things or what you achieve.

I remember how it was for me in primary/middle school. Before the class we talk with some classmates how unprepared we are and hope will not be the ones 'called to go to the board' (in front of the class to be questioned by the teacher on some topic one should have prepared for as a homework; or sometimes instead of a test. a little scary already just because of being in front of teacher/the class). So I tell my classmates before the class I'm not really prepared/badly prepared, and then get called to answer, and get top mark.. My classmates didn't believe me so much about my level of preparation after a while. But the thing was I was telling the truth about my preparation.
Maybe just had good memory for the things we did in the class earlier, and maybe got out of some answers a bit around. Or maybe my standard of being/feeling prepared was higher than actually needed. Anyways this was long ago and it doesn't work like this anymore
But then I also later noticed it felt as if it helps to 'underestimate' your level of preparation beforehand... strange.

The other reason of giving whatever interviews probably is being totally bored of having to be there for the same and same and same interviews over and over again.

"I was playing in a big match".
"Out of sheer panic and desperation I was just trying to find a way to get the cue through, to be able to put a few balls together. I knew if I didn't I would definitely be going home."
"Nice to come through a tough match against a top quality player". (~min 02.00)

Admitting there was a huge risk to be sent home, is that not making it totally clear how dangerous MJW is?
            Another perfectionist you are
Also answers depend on questions asked, I guess (which are quite silent in that youtube interview).

And MJW, well he had to have some excuse why he lost, you know.

            • Williams is one of the best losers on the circuit and is always gracious in defeat and praises is opponent if they play well . I dont think he,s looking for excuses , he,s not that type of guy . he,s never been a bad loser .

I dont think i need to say anything about OSullivans behaviour when he loses , it,s been mentioned on here enough .

              • Hotpot... Williams and O'Sullivan are two of my most favourite players ever.
Had either won I'd have been happy. That they both played their best FOR MY ENJOYMENT is something I am extremely grateful for...
what they say afterwards I could give a flying f*uck about.
                It's not a personality contest.

They are two of the best ever. Thank you Ronnie and Mark. End of Story.

                • If nothing else, I think you only need look at what others expect of Ronnie's standard to see that he could theoretically improve. I can't think of any other player who, the moment he hits three reds and blacks, starts getting the commentators and fans thinking "Is he going to make another one?!"

And then there's that part of fans that get mad when he forgets that such thing as safety exists... His (almost only) attacking approach makes it more likely to leave the table open and is therefore very vulnerable.
Make a ton in 1 frame, and then seemingly 'carelessly' leave the table for some Selby in the next 2 frames... That makes the score 1-2 not to Ronnie, right.

                      But you're right really.

you seem to be your own worst critic Ronnie
Ronnie if i hear that once more i,ll stop the interview because you dont know what your talking about , your talking rubbish .

I think he said something else sarcastic but i did,nt bother to listen , the guy is a ***** full stop
I just watched it. The guy makes no sense.

In one interview he's happy to be working with kids and passing along his knowledge to the next generation and then in post-match interviews he's overwhelmed with the pointlessness of it all.

Has anyone ever asked him why he still plays professionally? If he doesn't get a buzz after playing like that, why even bother?

My friend... Ronnie isn't like you or me or, for that matter, anyone else I can think of.
In the CueZone on World Snooker, Damien Hirst the most significant living British artist comments about Ronnie...

"A few people have been saying this week that Ronnie is the greatest sportsman.
                          To me he’s like Picasso.
Or perhaps more like Francis Bacon because what he does is instinctive.
Anything done to the level Ronnie has taken it, is art
                          ".

For someone with as much cred as Damien Hirst to say that is a "sit up and listen".

He cannot be judged in an ordinary way. Really.

If you do... you miss it.

[ I hope you saw the ROS-MJW brilliance today mate! ]

What a fantastic match Mark and Ronnie played.

                                It was breathtaking!
