The only thing that made me sad: Ronnie played fantastic snooker to get past a superb MJW, and then his interview got in front of the match for the spotlights, a match that has been one of the best scoring duels ever, probably..

Ronnie was absolutely mesmerising last night - poetry in motion. It is because he is "his own harshest critic" that he is the player he is - pure natural talent but never satisfied!

Ronnie is a genius, we will never see another Ronnie O sullivan he is without a doubt the greatest player to ever play the game. So we should all be greatful we are alive in his era and enjoy him while we can. He has always always been percieved as negative, but he is a perfectionist and that attitude is what gives him the belief that he can achieve on that table what everyone else including Hendry davis or anyone else can only dream of. Thats why Williams is right the only person who can beat Ronnie is Ronnie. If he was consistantly good like Hendry davis he wouldnt be as exciting. He is always good but most of the time Unbelievable

In the CueZone on World Snooker, Damien Hirst the most significant living British artist comments about Ronnie...

For someone with as much cred as Damien Hirst to say that is a "sit up and listen".

He cannot be judged in an ordinary way. Really.

Sorry but I think it's a mistake to excuse Ronnie's attitude.


It was obvious from the first time I ever watched him against Hendry in the 93 Dubai that he was a different kind of player. I believe Wych was commentating when he cleared up from a Hendry miss, and the ease and flair was something I had never seen before. I remember the look on Hendry's face that meant he saw it too. He's even better now than I imagined he would be.


But to make allowances for his obvious childish and unprofessional behaviour is unwarranted. Snooker's not an easy game. If it were, no one would play it. If Ronnie can only be pleasant when he's perfect at something, why doesn't he practice penalty kicks from the edge of the six yard box with no keeper?

He's either mocking his audience or unable to deal with any level of expectation, hence why he diffuses it with ridiculous comments like "my play today was acceptable". HA! According to him, I've never played an acceptable frame in my life.
