I think this will be a rel tight encounter . Always fancied Dott to do well this year and kicking myself for not betting him to go furthest of the qualifiers .
I'll back Allen hesitantly. Dott has a lot to play for - winning this match will see him back into the top 16 (I think). He and Allen have shown great break-building form, the latter a bit more prominent. I don't think Allen's game is well suited to Dott's though. I'll say 13-9 to Allen, but should be good to watch as long as Dott doesn't slow it down too much.
This is a very intriguing and unexpected encounter. It's great to see Dott playing this well again, but can he go any further in this tournament?
I think he has a good chance. His main strength in this tournament has probably been his scoring, and we all know how solid the other elements of his game are. But he seems to be a different player to what we saw a couple of years ago. He plays at a pretty quick pace, and also plays an occasional attacking shot in situations where he would usually defend. He used to be a great fighter, never giving up, and playing with great heart in the scrappy situations. I wonder if we might see a bit of that again in this tournament, when his back is against the wall...
But Mark Allen is a player with whom you don't want to have a potting and scoring showdown. Dott played two players who weren't really able to respond to his scoring, but Allen should be. But the same could be said for Allen actually. He wasn't really tested so far. This match should show us if either of these two players is a serious contender this year. Allen doesn't look like he is scared of anyone, so I don't think his game will go to pieces at any point. But it does remain to be seen how he will respond if Dott makes it a tactical match. As a younger player, and more at ease with these occasions in recent times, I think Allen is less likely to have an off session here. But I expect it to be pretty close either way.
This should be the first real test for both. Ebdon & Maguire didn't really offer any resistance to Dott. And the same applies to Mark's first two matches, he wasn't really tested by either Ford or Davis.
Mark should be very careful because Dotty never knows when he's beaten (if he's beaten) He's on the rise & for me is the dark horse in this year's championship. I will however stick by my player, win or lose
Come On Mark!!! :snooker:

Something doesn't look quite right with Graeme Dott. He's fidgeting with his ears and yawning and swallowing as if he had some problem there. Shame because he played very well in round 2 but today he does not seem to be quite there.
