steve davis needs to stop blaming his cue action - he's aiming the ball wrong

He's won 6 World Titles in his hayday, he has nothing more to prove! He's taking a much more relaxed attitude to snooker these days!

Steve's cue action is better now, than it has been for a long time. So his his stance. It is just one of those things as we get older.

Yes, but that was because a young man arrived called Hendry and he was soon playing everyone off the table. Davis himself has said his game is not the same as the modern game - when he was winning, you could have two or three chances in a frame and it wasn't unusual. Now, leave anything half ball and someone's knocking it in and making a 50.

I think it's great seeing Davis playing for the love of the game. Even if he's not a contender anymore he can still compete with the best when he's playing well. Competition is what it's all about. So good on him.

He is still a very good player at his age.. and he's always there to give his best.

davis has changed his game alot since then to compete with the modern players and it shows

I would think anyone that could pot well on a snooker table would have the talent to go onto any other straight pool game, it might take practice to be the best but it's still possible.

It's a very impressive feat that he still qualifies for World Championships and still wins matches against new talent. It's good to see him smile every now and then nowadays

It is true for all to see how the games changed, most notably with the way players break build. The old style was to take what was available before risking splittig the reds. Nowadays, the top players want the balls out in the open asap. That aside, I would still think Davis would have a chance in most tournaments today playing the game he did then. He made big breaks but also hardly gave his opponent a chance to get in. Every time they came to the table the cueball was glued to the baulk cushion. His downfall now of course, is that he just isn't so sure with his potting. Long balls are often suspect but he misses easy pots when in, maybe due to lapses in concentration.

Still, here's hoping we haven't seen Steve make his farewell appearance at the Crucible.

saw quite a few of the 9-ball games he played in and he was pretty darn good... my guess is he'd rather be able to play pro snooker competitively than win an american pool championship.

i played american 9-ball for awhile, got pretty decent, clearing tables and such... but when i switched back to snooker... found myself whacking the balls, cue action haywiry, huffed and puffed but still can't buy myself a pot... but i found that i still love snooker more... can't figure...

bigger balls, and bigger pockets. I feel it's very very hard to go from snooker to a U.S. 9 ball table and then back again. 9 ball is lazy because you dont have to be 100% to pot the balls, you can cheat the pocket to get better position. With snooker, try and cheat the pocket and your sitting on your ass watching your opponet make 100 break.
