        • Back to square one

I think Mark will battle on, but can he really win it from four frames behind?

              • How many balls has Selby missed to the middle pockets by hitting the near knuckle? Not that this one was easy though...

A very strong position for Dott now, but Selby has shown that it's possible to get close to him with a couple of strong frames. Looking forward to tonight.

It's not game over but I think Dott has firmly planted the seeds of doubts in Selby's mind.

Well in session 2 and session 3 Selby was closing up each time, but in the end it was Dott taking the last frame(s), and keeping score advantage. So Selby already seemed to gain some momentum, but Dott was successfully shutting it down.

So yes Selby can climb up to get closer to even the score, but very not sure if Dott would allow him further. Dott is no Ronnie I'm afraid, both by form and by frame of mind, this time.

But hunger of becoming world champ is on Selby's side.

They both look pretty hungry. It'll actually be easier for Dott, having been there before.

                          Indeed Dotty looks determined.
But why is it said it's harder to defend the title than to win the 1st one. Or maybe this goes for only the following year after winning the 1st one?
Could be for Dott it's a bit like another '1st time' coming through from the very qualifiers and generally not being in the top for a few last years.

How does Selby form looks to you people?
I think it's not the ultimate best he can be at, the score would be more even if he was. But ofc Dotty is on fire, what can you do with him. So Selby should be one of the main contenders in the coming years too, was he to lose today. And might not mind a little easier draw too.

They've both been there before (Selby got to the final in 07).

Dott's just been too strong and too determined for Selby in this match. Can't see Selby winning now.

It's going to be an unlikely final - Dott v Robertson - but I think it could be a really good one. They are playing around the same standard, so it could go to the final frame.

                            • No one's ever defended their first world title. But they never forget what it feels like to win it and I think that gives previous champions an edge over players who have lost in the final.

When things get really tense and doubts start creeping in, the previous champ has an intangible advantage imo.

It's a great match and I hope it goes right down to the wire.

                              • Mark's not at his best form definitely, I think his form last year was much better. The match against Higgins was brilliant. Just hope he can show the world what he is capable of tonight.
