QUOTE=Rane;493207]Could you explain this one please ??? Everyone has their personal favorits but I can´t see that it does any difference for snooker who wins this match. Both have earned their place in the semis fair and square.[/QUOTE]

    Sure mate.

    MJW has gone.
    Higgins has gone.
    Hendry has gone.
    Davis has gone.
Even Ron has left the auditorium.

Who we have left are younger players who want a chance and this is the best chance
they might ever get with the Big Guns MIA.

    Carter and Selby and Robertson.
All have hard-fought wins to get them there no doubt... especially Neil's historical come-from-behind over Gould.

Dott is a special case because he's been minimized as a one-off WC winner but in particular
because of all his now well-known personal trials and tribulations.
Dott, as a former WC winner would be a dream guy in the Final from a PR point-of-view.

Of the 3 others, Robertson is a breath of fresh air in every way...
he is younger and more appealing than the others... he has best powerplay of the three and the kicker...
he would be the first non-UK Champion since dear, beloved Cliff Thorburn almost 30 years ago!

Snooker NEEDS that kind of Adversarial Hype!

    That's what I meant Rane.

Can he do it again [ after all these years ] and convince those who think he was a
                less-than-deserving winner he is worthy?

Not only that, back in 2006 his quarter-final match was against none other than
Neil Robertson who won four frames in a row to force a 12-12 decider.
It was widely felt O'Sullivan just chose not to show up for their match so Dott
just slid through to an Ebdon final.

He can REDEEM himself! Makes for great Sports Page Bullsheet!

I've found it strange that even in the second round Dott was playing the best Snooker of anyone but the bookies didn't give him a chance. I have been saying since the start that the winner of the Allen Dott match will be in with a big shout to win. I still think that. Dott has been by a mile the best player of the tornament and he has nothing to lose.
                  Come on Graeme!!

Sheboy SHElby starts to do show and goes toilet after every frame, also when frame is going. I hope Dott can be competetive enough to beat that lady.

If Selby manages to take this frame, then he probably will more than happy by the outcome of first session the way he has played.

Well, a total clearance from Selby was the last thing I expected here. Second highest break so far for the tournament.

I think Mark is ok with that 3-5. Apart from the last frame he was playing akwardly. Still three sessions to go:snooker:

BTW, why has Selby-Bashing become so popular here?

This whole championship is turning itself into one bashfest.
Robbo's potting is so good he doesn't need to bother with positional play like the rest of the players. He laughs in the face of those who spend hours on the practice table perfecting their cue ball control! ~ Forman

A tremendous finish from Selby. It's incredible that he got out of that session only 3-5 behind. Surely he can't play this badly tomorrow.

OK, I see what you mean, wasn´t selfexplaining though. I personally would like to see a new person winning the title, and do fully agree with your arguments about Robertson as best choice. I can easily see Selby on level with Doherty and Ebdon in terms of succes, when his carer is over, and I think he would be a fine champion and a popular one as well and it will probably give another dimension to his game as well.

As for Carter, I think he would profit more than the other two from winning a title. He has been a bottler for long, and a WC title might be what he needed to become more confident and a regular winner.

If Dott wins, then I think he finally will get the respect he deserves. I certainly won´t critisise him, as he has played some very solid snooker so far in this tournament, and made a fantastic comeback into top 16.
