by plate you mean the first round losses get to play some more matches?
I dont think the PTC had a plate round

Plate was the Amateurcup.
All non-pros played in that seperate tournament

Few guys i know play in that . One is through to the next round with a chance of being a Pro .

Believe it is done on a ranking system over a number of Tournaments . Then tour places are available . Think it is down to 12 players now .

Will ask the guy how it works next time i see him at the club .
