The choice of Cheetah Ebdon or Luca Brecel, Barry will be breathing a huge sigh of relief, so much for the new stamford super ferrule and vegan power, stuffed by a kid!!! And well done Steve Davis.

Yeh sorry that was the total prior to UK qualifying.

Brecel with a great 6-1 win over Ebdon. He's now got the TV stages of the 2 biggest tournaments in the snooker calender (scoring 5 centuries along the way this time) & still only 17. Should have a good career ahead of him!! Good to see Lisowski getting through too. Phenomenal talent, seems to do well in the PTCs & am always surprised he hasn't progressed further yet. Given more experience playing on the big stage should do wonders for his game/confidence though

In that case that must have been Joe Perry's 151st century earlier then?

Possibly the biggest age gap between main venue qualifiers at a major with Steve and Luca.

(I think only the Fred Davis era could scupper this potential record.)

A 79 year old Fred Davis lost to a 17 year old Ronnie O'Sullivan in qualifying for the Grand Prix in the early 1990's.

Of course by losing in the qualifiers, Fred didn't qualify but that must be the biggest age gap ever in a pro match surely?

Fred Davis/Jimmy White and Rex Williams/Ronnie O'Sullivan are the only other two that instantly spring to mind for me. Statman will know better though!

Old Fred still managed to take a frame off him in that match if I remember correctly. 5-1 to Ronnie!

1993 Ronnie was 16 during the 1992 grand prix

Joe and Fred IMO were in a different class
