  • Whoever's directing the coverage today needs sacking. The number of times they've cut to the wrong camera during this match between Dott and Trump is getting silly.
"Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"

That happened a lot yesterday as well. There was one shot where the player struck the cue ball and the director instantly cut to the players face and we missed the shot!

Yeah, saw that! A few moments back, Dott was taking a red on into the right corner pocket. It was perfectly clear from the overhead shot which ball he was aiming at, but for some reason the director decided to cut to the camera focused on the left hand pocket just as he struck the ball.

        • Lovely safety by Dott to get behind that green.

          • Edgy start to this one, no fireworks from Judd as yet. So far so good for your man Daffie....

            The fast and the furious,
            The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!

            • I'd like to see how close the cue ball got to his cue when he laid it on the table. It looked close!

Yes, indeed pretty good start for Graeme...he can't complain really with his below-par performance. Scrappy frames...but enjoyable so far.

Technically a foul if it hit his cue, of course, but Trump wouldn't have made many friends if he'd taken advantage. Shaun Murphy on the other hand, would have taken full advantage of such a technicality.

Hazel just invited viewers to send in their emails, so I'm hoping to get one of my pet hates addressed and sent in this:

This is not so much a question, but a request. Can you please ask that Messrs Taylor and Virgo remove the horrible stark lines of the telecaster BEFORE the shot is played. I don't mind its use and think it has its place as an aid to commentary, but it should only be used to predict a shot prior to the shot being played, and should not be left up while the balls run their course, as it obscures the view too much.

                  • I don't understand these pockets. The clubs I play at, if I rattle the balls, they never go in but I have noticed on this Master's table its very forgiving.

Fair comment on the email sent to the BBC. I also hate those lines as they leave a burn mark on my plasma for a minute or so after!

Is this something to do with what appears to be a very deep undercut on the pockets?

It does look that way. The cut of the pockets do look deep. More so then usual.

                          • It's the way the balls slide off the new cloth . I've played on a Star table and when the cloth is old the balls do not drop as much as the do when the cloth is brand new .

Trust me the pockets are not bigger .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

Did not say they were bigger, it just looks like the undercut is deeper, but I take your point about the cloth.

                              • Just watched the final frame between Higgins and Murphy. Higgins couldn't get out of that arena fast enough. I thought he was going to start running.

                                Great performance by Murphy.
