It's amazing how many times in all sports that the best players seem all but defeated only to come back and pinch it at the last possible opportunity.

Guess that's what makes them the best, that certain something that you can't learn / have coached in to you i.e. being a winner.

I wouldn't get too carried away with Hawkins, he's not playing to his absolute best just yet but then he hasn't really had to, if he gets past Judd i don't think he'll have it as easy in following rounds!

Take away the last few frames and it would be average, the last three frames have been better as he is growing in confidence because of the poor form and running of his opponent, I think his performance looks better as it's like he's the only player there now.

Early exit for Trump, wonder if he can take those shoes back and get a refund?

There is not a lot Trump can really do though, I think you are massively under rating how well Hawkins is playing here. This is solid match play that would be a match for any player. His scoring in the balls is great, his safety is finding the cushion or snookering Judd every time, this is a top level performance, as good as any player has produced so far.

I'd say Hawkins is just playing good and steady, Trump is just not doing anything and keeps leaving him up, Hawkins is making breaks safe in the knowledge his opponent won't kill the frame and will probably leave him up again if he misses.

Hawkins is playing out of his skin to be fair. If he could keep this form up for the entire tournament those odds at the start of 66/1 suddenly look very generous.
