I've said this before and although it doesn't make sense its the only way I can describe Selby's play. He plays to avoid defeat, not to win, its the only adage I can think of that sums up his play. I noticed quite a number of his games how many times he plays thin safety shots, he wants a tactical frame because its his way of trying to gain control. You watch Ronnie, Robertson, Higgins, they play attacking safety shots, the open the reds up because they are prepared to take a risk to score, whereas many of Selby's frames often lead to a protracted safety battle, reds ending up messy, colours off their spots etc. Its definitely a negative approach he takes, trying to force a mistake rather than take a chance of an open frame.

He'll never be remembered as performing anything special because all he does is play safety as oppose to any half challenging pots and it right pittles me off.
