I much prefer Selby playing more aggressive, hopefully he sticks with having a bit more bottle, and make's this into a 19 frame special!
ps Just need Neil to wake up and realize he's in the final...
Yup he needs to wake up fast or else I'm afraid Selby will put him to bed (yeah I know...leaving the door open to all sorts of sarcastic remarks). 2-0 up now and in amongst the balls.
Selby is playing like he wants to prove to everyone that he is a worthy champion. And he is! Great job so far...3-0 up. Neil really needs to win the next frame.
Personally, I find all of this quite amusing. I'm sure anyone looking through this thread tomorrow will find some of the statements quite bizarre. We had stuff like:
Selby can't score centuries
Selby will never be remembered for playing anything special, he doesn't go for any challenging pots, he only plays safety
Selby is a terrible positional player (would be better if he worked on it rather than boring his opponents)
Selby plays thin safeties to avoid opening up the reds
Selby isn't good enough to pot, so he hides behind other balls
It's embarrassing for the sport that Selby is number one, being so average
The only way Selby can compete is with disgustingly negative anti snooker
Selby's game consists of ****ty breaks of 20, cheap snookers and lifeless crowds, among other things
People don't like snooker because of players like Selby
Selby is destroying snooker
Selby is a cancer, you cannot fight him forever
Pick your favourite. On top of that, we had the usual complaining about Selby's luck. And of course, whenever a frame goes scrappy or the balls go awkward, it's Selby's disgusting plan to bore Dott, while Dott is just an innocent victim of his.
Couldn't agree more with this. Personally I have absolutely no issue with people who find Selby's play boring. We all have our favourite players and styles. What I don't respect is the faceless keyboard warriors on here who continually attack Selby's character. Some of the things these people say are comically stupid and provably false (can't score a century, just a lucky player). However, saying that Selby is "smug", "unclassy", or describing him as a "cancer" is just plain personal and uncalled for. Snooker is only a game, and Mark hasn't done anything wrong.
Judging by last night that could go on well past 1am. We're getting fresh snow in london, it's packing and icing up and public transport wil stop at midnight - good luck if you're driving in for the final session.
