Shame Selby had to win, as I had hopes of an O'Sullivan-Higgins final, in the event Ronnie got through his matches. Still, fair play to Selby for once again proving you have to clear the table before he admits defeat - could well retain his title and join Ronnie with 4 titles.

I've enjoyed the tournament, and there have been some good matches(Trump v Fu, first half of Murphy-Ding, Selby-Davis), but I'm feeling disillusioned overall because nobody seems to be able to hold their game together for more than three frames. Considering these are the very best in the world, there have been a lot of silly misses, unforced errors and total collapses; very weird indeed. Hopefully it gets better from hereon out.

Yeah they are being put up slowly frame by frame and i can't wait to show my mate and watch the final 3 frames from when Selby was down 5-3 all over again with the laptop hooked up to the plasma!

I only saw the back end of the highlights - what's all this gamesmanship Selby's being accused of? What did he do specifically?

You may respect the competitor but you just can't like the guy. This is abnormal. How could you admire a guy who will stop to nothing just to win a game of snooker?

so you are saying if you were playing for your living to feed your family, you wouldn't make sure you win. i just dont get all this nonsense about Selby, he's funny cracks jokes when he plays,and plays some of the best safety around.

he wins because he's mentally strong and has the desire to be the best he can, just because he hasn't the flare of the other players he's disliked, i remember Steve Davis in the 80s wasn't liked because he kept winning. and everyone thought he was boring

what you expect Selby to do smash the pack open and hope for the best.

he done nothing, they are all jealous. in fact Higgins had a load of the run of the ball, Selby was unlucky on many occasions

Certainly he hasn't won by sheer luck, even I just can't deny he's a great competitor and this is why he won I guess.

Yet I really don't like him, I never liked him and never will cause nothing he can do (well maybe retiring from the game) could help things going worse everytime I see him. The dirtiest tactics no one dares using -- he does! He just seems not to have a sense of honor that keeps him away from that. So yeah basically every defeat he takes is good to me. What a great match, I'm gutted that Higgins lost but Selby is so tough to beat. I think Selby had the run on his side towards the end but Higgins had quite a few chances to close it and he admitted in the post-match interview that he "bottled it". He's lack of confidence and good results was evident in the last couple of frames, he showed some nerves. Reminded me of MJW couple of seasons back when he was losing deciding frames in the finals after being well in front. Anyway, the best match of the season so far.

I'm not a huge Selby fan, but credit where credit's due and in final frame decider's he's deadly. I think we seen last night, why Higgins will struggle to win any more major tournaments and why I fifth world title is now probably beyond him.
