I heard the Ronald match didn't even last 59mins table time! Came home from work hoping to catch a couple of frames... there's been a few frames which have lasted near 60mins this week and Ronnie gets 6, who else could do that in the top 16..?Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning...

That match was ridiculous. They may as well have replaced Ricky with a cardboard cut out and no one would've noticed, poor guy. Amazing snooker from Ronnie but I don't think he will play as well as that for the rest of the tournament. In the world championship, he played his best snooker in the quarters and then was totally beatable in the semis so I still think the other players have a shot.

That was a great scoring streak from O'Sullivan, the best he has played in the major events this season so far. There is every chance he plays Maguire in the semi-finals, and Maguire has certainly found himself on the wrong side of a couple of thrashings against O'Sullivan in the past.
On the other hand, it could be Robertson, and it's hard to imagine him not putting up a better fight.

Okay just watched it all on eurosport player, not exactly the match i envisaged..! Was definitely expecting a few century breaks so i have to disagree with a previous poster saying that was Ronnie peaked and he'll drop his standard in the latter match(es), he was good but on the flip side Ricky's head dropped after the first, i'd fear for Maguire or Robertson as i think there is room for improvement from Ronnie!Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning...

But it's still a bit defeatist to say you can't do anything about it. There is always one more good safety you could have played, or one more tough pot you could have got. Or you can do a Selby and slow things down and make it scrappy. It's only out of your hands when O'Sullivan is at the table.
But of course that's just the theory, putting it in practice is not as easy as it sounds. I can't think of any great player of recent times that hasn't found themselves on the wrong end of a major thrashing against O'Sullivan at some point.

Ricky said this:-
admitted he "took a real good beating".
"That is the first time I have ever felt absolutely helpless on a snooker table," he said. "I scored 35-odd points in the first frame and didn't really see a ball for the rest of the match really."
