The fact is there a 3 core elements to snooker safety, break-building and long potting, Selby has the tactical side but was let down by the other 2 O'Sullivan has all 3 on point and was head and shoulders above anything anyone could throw at him.

he was trolling at the 2010 masters which is what he's been doing for at least half if not more of his career. in this match, he wouldn't have played that green - simple as that. i didn't say every match, john higgins has beaten him fair and square many times and that is because they are on a similar level. not the case with mark selby

He wasn't trolling, he lost his plot back then. It's nothing new, it has happened several times. End of story. Yesterday he acted like a man which was very nice to see for a change.

The Answer I was looking for is Ronnie O' Sullivan is the first player to win the Masters who was ranked outside the top 16 on the the current world ranking list, his ranking is 24 but as World champion he gets an automatic invite and his automatically seeded N0 2 for the Event. The Only Other Player that would be invited would the Defending Masters Champion Champion who would be Seeded N0 1 for the event no matter what his Ranking, and Fergal O' Brien Would have been invited back to the 2002 masters if he beat Paul Hunter In The final but was beaten 10-9 in 2001.

Well Done Ronnie O' Sullivan on winning his 5th Masters Title by beating Mark Selby by 10 frames 4, also Ronnie O' Sullivan set a Masters record today what was it does anybody know

I don't think he is as good left handed as he used to be. Doesn't tend to use it as much and misses more often.

Mark Williams said on twitter that he thinks Ronnie is 30 points a frame better than the rest, big call but true?.... at the stage the final finished Ronnie would still have been 8-6 up......however you look at it he is a fair way clear of the rest of the field in longer frame matches this really shows.

Ronnie proved yesterday that he is without doubt the best there is. He called Selby out in his book and on a BBC tv interview and basically made him try to stand toe to toe with him without resorting to his usual gamesmanship. He (Selby) failed miserably.

What Ronnie says about Selby is true, what Ronnie says about Edbon is true. Both use gamesmanship to try to break the concentration and the will of their opponents because they have no confidence in their own ability to stand toe to toe with anyone.

When the pundits call these players gritty, determined fighters and praise them for bringing matches to a virtual standstill as regards to spectacle, they are doing a diservice to all the other players who fight just as hard without resorting to walking around the table three times before every shot, stretching for a shot they know cannot reach before going to their chair for an extension, deliberately putting the balls in negative postions, going for alledged comfort breaks between every frame etc etc.

Maguire fought just as hard as Selby did and went down fighting but it wasn't noticed. In fact he was put down for losing his cool as once again the run of the balls deserted him, as it has for many years now, but he won the Welsh last year despite it by simply getting through it and getting on with it with respect to his opponent, the audience and the game itself.

I think craftily putting balls safe and making it difficult for an opponent is perfectly reasonable, it's certainly not gamesmanship in my book. Selby plays a lot of pool type safety and has changed safety quite a lot and quite successfully. I think tightening the game up LOOKS like a greater effort to fight than relentless, all out attack and McGuire, whose will to win is without question, visibly shrugs off misses so possibly LOOKS like he cares less. Whilst, I agree, caring just as much.

I abhor gamesmanship but it's a part of sport at the top level and probably any level, it's horrible when an experienced pro does it to a newcomer and in many cases it should just be called what it is, cheating.
