I don't particularly enjoy watching Selby but for the most part, it doesn't bother me much, and I can only suggest the players concentrate on their own game instead of their opponent's actions. Then all these things wouldn't be an issue and if they were deliberate, they wouldn't be used.
Just as when Ebdon did it at the World Championship, there has never been any official complaint made, nor have any of the referees ever warned/penalised Selby for it, so there's no reason for him to stop. If Ronnie had his way, the world championship would be 5 frames with a 15-second shot clock and players would be penalised for knocking balls safe.
If Selby's game affects other players, they should either complain or develop the mental toughness required in a top-level sportsman. Which is exactly what Ronnie's done.

The insults have no particular effect on me because I don't know you well enough to put any value on your opinion of me, but the lack of courtesy is irritating.
I don't agree with everything Steve has said, but he at least has managed to make a reasoned argument without losing his temper.

To return to the topic, sort of:
Has anyone had any experience or seen any details of what Dr Peters actually does to promote such stability in the likes of Ronnie, the cyclists he worked with etc? All I've seen are vague references to "techniques" and his "box the chimp" analogy, which seemed to be promoting his book as much as anything. I may get round to his book eventually, but there are a lot of reviews online suggesting that it contains nothing more than generic sports psychology exercises.
It was nice to see Ronnie visibly genuinely enjoy a tournament and a victory for the first time in ages - I take little notice of his mood swings and claims about "In it for the money" but I felt very sad that someone performing the way he has would take no pleasure in it.

and no sherlock, we all know why there haven't been any "official" complaints - nice try relying on that line of defense

Every sport has it's dull, boring, defensive, negative players/teams. You have your hoofball football teams, your 'just keep it in and don't go for winners' tennis players, your F1 drivers that won't overtake, your boxers who won't throw a punch and just go for a points victory... Let's face it, hardly anyone can abide watching them, but they're not breaking any rules, so unfortunately you just have to put up with them.

Now all the time he is doing this Murphy knows that it's quite deliberate because the shot needed the longer extension with the rest in the first place, this is in Murphy's head, and it's this that breaks his focus. Selby knows what he's doing, all the other players know what he's doing but the referees apparently are oblivious to it despite holding the answer to stopping it with the ungentlemanly conduct rule.
That's all it takes, one referee to to take him to one side and explain that if he keeps that sort of behaviour up he will lose the frame.
