1. The one caused by excess friction at the contact point, usually chalk on the ball, this causes a thick contact because it prolongs the contact moment and pushes the object ball along the path of the white before releasing it on a thick contact path.
2. The one caused by the balls being at different heights, one above, one below at the point of contact. If this happens you can get either a thick or thin contact depending on just what happens. Sometimes the contact is prolonged, as above and you get a thick contact.
But, sometimes the contact isn't prolonged, you get a "normal" length contact between the two balls, but the contact point on one ball is below the center, and the other is above, because the ball is a sphere these points are not only above/below the normal contact point but also in front (on one) and behind (on the other) the normal contact point, resulting in a thin contact."Do unto others 20% better than you would expect them to do unto you, to correct for subjective error"

Poor shot by Ronnie earlier, great pot by Trump. Expect him to improve now. Good chance.

Agreed. It's for this reason why as soon as Higgins went out, I was putting money on Trump. If this was Higgins playing Trump today for example, I'd fancy Higgins to win (I definitely wouldn't be betting on it). As you said though, Trump makes Ronnie nervous.Box the chimp.
