  • Very, very disappointed with the quality of the table and the balls in both semi finals. Inconsistant bounces off the cushions and bad contacts and kicks every five shots or so spoiled it for all four players. Poor old Ricky getting eight frames in a row of bad contacts, kicks and poor bounces took all the fight out of him. Even the frame he won to stop the rot he got two kicks that put him out of position yet overcame it.
Judd suffered more than ronnie IMO, his stun run thru hit them hard game was totally ruined by the table and balls.
If world snooker has signed a contract for these "new" balls to be used exclusively in the future then god help the future of the game. The players need to get together and demand these balls are thrown out for good otherwise their futures will depend on a kicks and bad contacts lottery as to who gets them and who doesn't at vital times.

Selby, Robertson, Ding, Williams, Maguire and others all suffered horrendously from kicks and bad contacts in the two table situation but the single table outdid that by 10-1. An absolute disgrace. Even Ronnie who doesn't normally have the cue ball cleaned started asking for it to be cleaned in the final frames of his semi with Judd as time and again bad contacts put him out of position. The kick count stats were a joke as whoever was counting them obviously didn't know what a kick or bad contact looks like or sounds like.

I notice that nobody involved in the matches have come out publicly and said anything but that is probably due to something in the players contract stipulating that nothing is to be said to upset any sponsors or suppliers to the tour.

    • I have watched every tournament and I was wondering why the
balls seem to 'jump' and I have not noticed the kick count displayed
before but maybe I just missed it.

If these balls are in fact causing the problem I am shocked that they
were introduced for the biggest tournament of the year and not
done so after this tournament was over.

If the balls are causing a problem I would hope they would just go
      back to the 'old' ones.

      • Players should just adapt then. Some players very rarely get a kick so.....

        • Adapt yes but if this is the first tournament where these balls
have been used then its a very poor choice in timing.

Several players seemed to have difficulty playing which seems
          odd to me.

          • Could someone please answer this question. Are these new balls as in a new type of balls or rather are they just a new set of 1G balls like they normally use.

Maybe someone (ferret?) who is in Sheffield can get this question answered, as I don't see them switching the type of balls unless with Simonis taking over Saluc they are making them with a new composition or something.

I agree there seems to be more kicks for this tournament than in past tournaments. Has it been especially hot and humid in Sheffield this past 2 weeks? (Maybe I should say warm & humid as I'm talking about the UK.)

Finally . . . what is ROS worried about already?
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
                          I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)
