  • ronnie not happy with the cloth

    Comment

    • why is he being a **** about the table now. Becoming more like Alex Higgins every year as he gets older. There is nothing wrong with the cloth IMO. I think he is just trying to intimidate Hawkins here.

All I know is Ronnie isn't exactly well liked on the tour, many players don't get on with him as he distances himself from the others. Hence why they would probably want Barry to win because he's down to earth and the other players can relate to him better.
I like this response. Hate is a too strong word to use for someone who we don't know in person. I'm not even sure if most of other pros know him well enough to hate him, either. They probably just feel he's distant and comes out as rather cold as a person.

Meanwhile, this has been pretty smooth stuff so far. Mistakes aren't forgiven that easily.
        All the way Mark J!!

Yep, Ronnie is shocked Barry is not following the script and like Ebdon uses gamesmanship - I am number one and if I say it's wrong it must be and you should join in with my complaint which then means you are doing what I say, job done...

It happens in darts now when a player is feeling under pressure he invents excuses like loose floorboards or draughts in the arena, just to put the opponent off.

Whatever the result Barry can hold his head high knowing he has conducted himself with credit, something Ronnie won't be able to do

Honestly, I don't see how such a thing can put an opponent off. If it's an attempt to use gamesmanship, I'd say it's a poor one.

Another high scoring, fast paced frame. I've thoroughly enjoyed this session's fluency.

                  • The self-righteous indignation about Ronnie talking about the cloth is hilarious. Just because Ronnie complains doesn't mean it's gamesmanship or poor sportsmanship. Ronnie, like most Brits, likes to moan (I bet he likes to queue as well), so let him moan. It shouldn't affect Barry's play at all.

Could I ask how you know all this? You said something about Trump/Ronnie the other day (that Trump beats him in practice or something). Do you know people on the tour?
