I reckon if you asked Ebdon what 2 + 2 was, he'd take 7 minutes to respond, not because he didn't know the answer, but because he'd spend that long looking for problems and connotations as to why the answer might just not be 4.
"Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"

Ha ha. Indeed.
I don't think I've ever seen Ebdon play so bad. He completely lacks any confidence. That mushroom on the end of his cue isn't helping him.
This is the thing with Ebdon, his best snooker is up there with the best of them, and not at all slow, but when he's down on confidence it's really awful and he slows down a lot. Actually, I haven't found him terribly slow today.
It's a shame he will always be remembered for slowness rather than his top snooker around the turn of the century because he is one of the best shot-makers in the game. But he's brought that on himself, of course.
I think he's managed also to veil a reasonably solid Dott today. He's had a couple of glaring misses but on the whole seems to be in reasonably good shape.
Does anyone predict this one coming off tomorrow morning before the scheduled finish? Now that it's 6-2, I think probably not.

I thought it was telling when the white was near the blue pocket and he had a fairly straight shot on the red which would have allowed him to drop on the black and he refused the shot.

I think his confidence is shot.
I didn't write it very well, but that sentence was actually referring to Dott!
I thought the next matches started at 2-30pm . . . running late?
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins. I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

Some past-midnight snooker to look forward to then
I did some good training during the pre-qual and qualifiers.
: )
