There was a near miss in 2000: Steve (Fred) Davis v John (Alex) Higgins, and Matthew (Kirk) Stevens v Alan McManus. The final that year was another such game (Williams-Stevens).

      • peter ebdon's highest break after 14 frames and almost 8 hours - 45

Very sad. I had a 46 break saturday as did my opponent.

Not my type of snooker by a loooooooooong shot.

        • Great evening so far, particularly that 3rd frame of the session between King and Allen, some great safety play on the final colours. Allen has been getting some good pots, I expect him to push on after the interval.

          • I'm impressed so far with Mark Allen in this match...he seems very focused and up for the job. Came back needing 3 snookers to win the 12th frame. He even refuses to join in the banter with Mark King too much, which is a bit unlike Mark Allen really...surprising. So he's looking good here...

Hoping Mark King can pull the next 2 frames back to square it up at 7 all. Yeah...I know, I'm still behind you lot...but I'm getting there

I often get the impression that Ebdon is a somewhat troubled man. Does anyone remember when he broke into tears during his post match interview some years ago, when criticised for his slow play?
"Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"

Your reply of course directed at robertmac's 'Very sad' comment about Ebdon

some people contend this is skill and if you can't cope with it, it's your fault - lmao
Yeah, but it's not just about potting balls is it

If your watching the BBC it's Terry Griffiths & Willie

Eurosport it's Smith and Johnson. I quite like Joe, but can't stand Mike. Little conundrum for ya...now who's who?

                          • I guess it's the BBC cause there's no Eurosport logo If someone could tell him to take some time to breathe, you know, just keep silent a second or two, it would be lovely

                            • Wonderful...the Joe & Mike show over on Eurosport. Mike saying it was debatable he thought whether the white was best to go back or not, after a foul shot was played. To which Joe replied...it's no debate...if he (the player) wants it back it's gonna go back. LMAO! Can't argue with logic there
