He has a lot more to his game than many of the top level players but he must have upset the snooker gods at some point to have such dreadful run time and time again. Maybe his problem is more psychological but its hard to put it out of your mind like you said when he's had so many scars from defeats such as this.
Here is a possible partial explanation for you..
Shot selection plays a large part in "luck", as does how shots are played. Some players more consistently pick shots with slightly lower chances of "unlucky" outcomes, and slightly higher chances of "lucky" outcomes. This, over time, makes them seem "unlucky" or "lucky" but it's not luck, it's poor/good shot selection/execution."Do unto others 20% better than you would expect them to do unto you, to correct for subjective error"

Newby here...
I would interested to hear how people think Selby played last night, my impression was that he struggled throughout and was fortunate that Selt was playing even worse them him in the first 4 frames, Selby made some decent pots and played a reasonable safety game but I just felt he was consistently losing position amongst the balls. I only ask as I read a report saying that his price had nipped in the with bookies after he impressed last night??

Milkins and Robertson match now on. A good start by Robertson who always looks like he's in control and oozes class. A top player.
I hope Milkins can keep it close.Last edited by cyberheater; 24 April 2013, 02:16 PM.
