  • Selby is class .... you haters can rant all you want but he just reduced my arrears in half by stifling the hawk like a heartless hitman

Exactly. Selby is a hardcore grinder.

      • Either way you look at it, it does the job! I personally enjoy his matches.

        • Selby's grinding is certainly paying off. Barry is now missing everything.

The fact Barry's missing is not all down to Selby's 'grinding'.

            • Another long pot missed by Ronnie. I make that 2/8.

Misses another as I type this. 2/9.

                And yet he's 3-1 up.

It is. Selby does that to you - he almost brings your game down by frustrating the hell out of you. It's no coincidence that his big matches often lack 'quality'. He turns it into a scrap as he knows no one can beat him in those games, other than an in-form Higgins maybe.

It's annoying to watch as for me he's one of the most boring players on tour (ironic given his nickname!) but he does what he needs to win. You can't blame him, really.

Ronnie, Higgins, Dott, Murphy and Robertson have all said he's a nightmare to play against.

Because nobody wants to play a grinder.

                    • i remember the match at the wsc 2008 against williams

his LP percentage was like 9 % in the first session

                      • very clever from ali

he is tempting ronnie to go for long pots because he knows he will miss them and give him a scoring chance

Ok then, in that case we'd know he'd be knocking in 147s every frame if he was playing Ronnie.

But Ronnie is not missing all the long pots, is he? He knocks one in now and then...

but as long as he missed the majority its clever to at least temp him
