While I do feel that Rob Walker's intros are cheesy, I think this is getting a bit overblown the more times this is mentioned.

I would agree that perhaps my comment of it being shocking was ott, unneccessary is more like it really,

Much better today by Bingham and fair play to Davis for his contribution as well, shame for Bingham that he's in the tough half of the draw so will do well to get beyond the last 8.

Ding looks to have this in the bag now, he needs to improve if he wants to beat Hawkins who will be fresher than him and might just be that bit smarter than King in how he approaches the match, the safety display that he and selby put on at times in their 2nd round match was superb, shame the potting was there to match it, which would be Hawkins biggest worry against Ding, he needs to take his chances in one visit or if he can't don't leave him amongst the balls.

I'm with the earlier poster in that we shouldn't go ott on this matter. I would just prefer it to be kept more snooker based. and left out the life story. As an example, he could say,

"His opponent, making his 9th appearance at the Crucible,
He defeated Fred Davis in Round 1,
A a beaten semi-finalist here in 2005,
He's now ranked number 15 in the World,
From London... Tommy Arto"

I think the safety play has been the major difference between this year and last. ROS had Carter in all sorts of trouble most of the time in the final.
