Tbh, it's actually arguably better for the game if Trump was to win this, assuming ROS does carry on. Though obviously I want ROS to win...
I agree. This would make the better final. I'm not a huge ROS fan but you want him to win because Trump is such a nob.

IMO, I don't think it's ever better for the game when Ronnie loses. When Ronnie wins, we all win.

I'd argue it's better for the game if the better player out of the two wins and it's definitely not Trump so far in the first two and a half sessions.
          All the way Mark J!!

            • The Trump foul reminds me of Neal Robertson doing something similar last year against Ronnie.

No chance. I want ROS to win, but think Trump will win. Plus, putting money on it eases the pain somewhat, should Ronnie lose.

              • Important four frames coming up now. Trump really needs a 3-1 after the interval. It's a big ask to come back from 14-10 or worse against O'Sullivan, especially if you are playing the kind of snooker that is bound to give him chances.

This. The whole "bad for the game if Ronnie wins" thing is mind bogglingly petty, IMO. Ronnie doesn't owe snooker anything. If the man wants to retire, let him retire.

                  • i always seen Trump as an ignorant nob. but for a second there when he moved the yellow ball and offer to leave the Rest for Ronnie ,shows some vulnerability and sensitive touch i thought he does not have.

ehh ronnie is leading 12-8, not judd

i think you are one of those people who still thinks that judd will win when ronnie has already won the match 17-11

Your Trump hating is so tiresome. Just admit you are jealous of him and have deep, insecure emotional issues because of it. The first step is admitting you have a problem.

Anyway. ROS has definitely won this now. Ronnie's Tip has wasted his winnings.

I suppose you're right as he attracts a mainstream audience. A 'passing of the torch' type moment would work eventually though. I know Trump is extremely popular, but he's a long way off having the pull of an O'Sullivan, White ect.

                          Not quite

I just feel like Trump can pot Ronnie off the table if/when he gets his act together. He's the one in first, almost every time.

I think it'd even be OK for him to only play the World Championship every year. Ronnie clearly doesn't like the direction snooker has taken in the last 2-3 years. He's more than earned the right to do whatever he wants to do, whenever he wants to do it.

I think that Mark Allen is more likely to be the torchbearer of "box office draw". He seems like the only player nowadays that is willing to put a quote out into the media. Every other player is very emotionless compared to him. Neil Robertson of 3 years ago, maybe. But Robertson looks tired recently. Seems like every single match he plays, he's got enormous bags under his eyes. He does also have a new, young child, so that could be it.

On a purely selfish note, I rather like the idea of him coming back to defend his title every year (I've been a Ronnie fan since I was 13. I'm now 31.)
