    • Sounds like a good session. I'm sad I missed it.

      • Not sure about the cloth, but the balls they are using are the worst I've ever seen on television.

One in three shots the cue balls seems to bounce.

(I'm not talking about this match in particular, I mean the tournament in general).

That could only be the cushions, couldn't it?

I've understood that Barry is widely liked on tour.

An 81 break is a frame winning break in one scoring visit. Nobody has ever made an 81 break and then still gone on to lose the frame. An 81 is often a sensational break. It doesn't have to be a 135 clearance and over for it to be sensational.

An 81 is worth the same in value as a 142 i.e. one frame won to the player who scored those breaks

It's a pity that people don't respect a high 70's or low 80's break at all and only ever respect a break once it reaches 3 figures.

Despite tables and cloths being the same as previous years the standard and century count is well down so my guess is that the balls are cr*p.
Aramith are still WS partners and no other manufacturer is named anywhere, who is this mysterious other manufacturer who is shyly avoiding their best chance of worldwide promotion in a growing sport?

Objectively speaking, it wasn't a sensational break. It was very solid and he had to play up to blue all the time, but not sensational by any means. And considering it was at the very early stages of the match, the pressure was at its minimum for a Worlds final, which doesn't support the break being sensational argument, either.

                      • I wish they would give us Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry as a commentating duo.

I'm sticking with eurosport this evening...David Hendon and Joe Johnson is a good combo!

Plus they are two of the five best snooker players of all time, arguably two of the top three (depends on how you feel about Reardon and Higgins). Steve is one of the wittiest commentators on TV and Stephen is still so recently retired that he knows all the players very well and knows the modern game much better than any of the others.
