Very good match. It was always going to be about how Fu played, and he certainly didn't disappoint. Some masterful breakbuilding in the early stages, then mostly two-visit stuff later on when a couple of cannons went wrong.

Allen is usually quite dangerous from behind, and he did made a decent attempt at a comeback, but it was always unlikely once Fu only needed one frame.

That's three of my potential quarter-finalists out in the 1st round, as usual. :smile:

I was pleased to see Marco Fu, Barry Hawkins (the HAWK) and Mark Davis (I wish Steve Davis had won too) get through the first round. I just hope Neil Robertson also gets into the second round. Trump out of the runing helps his chances of winning the lot! Some good snooker played so far. Looking forward to some more late nights.

Allen tried to make a funny by throwing his towel at Marco while he was clearing the colours. Fu wanted none of it and threw it back at him, then finished clearing the table.

I did smile at something he said today though ... in his normal "this guy should really win the frame from here" with the implicit "if he is anywhere near as good as I was" he justified it by saying ...

I felt that Trump had been over confident in the early frames of the match with Joyce, having a good measure of confidence in yourself is always good but you must also treat all your opponents with due respect lest you find yourself in the same position as Trump did....................................
