      • just been watching some of the qualifiers Liam Highfield against Xiao Guodong. Liam 3-0 up then Guodong took the next 3 to level it, he was on a roll and in the 7th frame was 58 - 33 with 43 remaining got Liam in a snooker, everything seemed like a 4-3 to Guodong.
Liam played a hit and hope shot on a red near the bottom cushion coming off the side cushion the red flew into the middle pocket leaving him nicely on the black and he cleared up to the pink and taking the frame.

what a lucky escape, he looked down and out, missing relatively easy pots and not getting his positional play right. maybe a bit of luck might spur him on. not sure we'll have to see

        • Anyone watching the Xiao vs Highfield game?

I bet Xiao is thinking it's not going to be his day. Highfield is getting some outrageous bits of fortune with fluking balls in.

(you must have posted your Alabadi while I was typing mine)

            • I also see that the Take That boys are still playing:

              Robbie Williams 4 - 2 Mark Owens

              Up the TSF! :snooker:

              • You really do need to learn when to play safe Highfield. You've just gifted Xiao the frame and the match. Let's see if he can capitalise on it.

                      • Well done Xiao. You played very well to come back from behind.

Highfield had a lot of opportunities to win that last frame but couldn't get over the line. Missing a black off it's spot didn't help nor did your inability to cut back a simple red into the middle bag.

                        • Liam Highfield, out beaten by Xiao Guodong. he can't have any complaints he didn't play well especially the last 4 frames or so.

he's finding it's a different ball game now back on the tour, and those mistakes are getting punished now

he made the mistake of trying to protect his 22 point lead when he broke down on 36, but there was about 8 reds left with half of them on the cush. can't win like that

Well he played a low percentage red into the yellow pocket which rattled and then traveled all the way down the table to finish 6 inches from the black left pocket giving Xiao and easy in.
He could have played safe and waited for his chances.

On the other hand. He shouldn't of broken down before he crossed the winning line. Which has been a feature of his play today.

Yes. He said he wouldn't take the tour for granted ever again.

                                .
he had a few chances before that and one was a double but instead he tried to make a bit of a mess of the table. not a good idea with 8reds and only 22ahead
