I watched Chris Melling win his match. He was shaking like a leaf in the first couple of games! Fair play to him getting the result.
Matthew Stevens didn't seem to be having a good time of it. He had quite a few thunderous kicks and a pink to the top pocket rolled off. They had the table fitters in at the mid-session interval but they couldn't find a problem.
Matthew Stevens had his friend in the audience for the first few frames and he was not exactly discreet in his opinions. He disappeared shortly after the interval and suddenly Stevens started playing better. Perhaps that was a coincidence?
