Mark Williams did it in 02/03 for one. I'm sure there'll have been a few occasions before that as well, I'll look into it...

Edit: Hendry did it in 89/90 and 95/96, Davis did it in 87/88. Can't find any others that have done it in a single season

Can someone tell me in which year of hendry's career, did he win the most prestigious titles. I know he won 5 in a row in the 90 season i think, but some of the tournaments werent that prestigious.

Hendry was at his best between 1993 and 1996, in those four years there were 12 majors up for grabs (UK, worlds and masters), Hendry won 9 out of the 12 which is quite remarkable!

1993 UK, 1994 Masters, 1885 Masters were the only defaets Hendry suffered within the 1993 to 1996 if you class only these 3 events as the majors.

Regarding the Masters, that event has an awful lot of dead-wood ranked 10 to 16 making up the numbers who made a semi-final then quarter fimal season early on season before last but did not look like winning more than the odd match or 2 since those 2 appearances (none at all this season), but those 2 appearances still enough to ensure they are inside the top 16 for the following 2 seasons including the current season. How the hell could you expect them to play anything other than rubbish 1st round there when facing the No.1 seed e.g., barely potting a ball in the process. A shame that such an event as the Masters sees far too many off-form lower top 16 who have benefitting from an outdated ranking system being allowed to freely express their mediocrity, for a so-called Major.

If the Masters is to be a genuine major, isn't it about time there was a Masters race or something, of the best 16 over a period of time by a particular date qualifying instead of the best 16 through the hstorical form ranking system.
