    John Virgo and Ray Reardon, two of the great snooker entertainers, go to battle in their second round match at the Crucible in 1982. Reardon won 13-8.

                        Are there any players on the main tour now with beards?

                        A few years ago there was Virgo and Robidoux.

                          Mark Williams is the closest it gets - he's often got quite a pronounced 5 o'clock shadow, but that's about it. Maybe it affects cueing action?

                              John Spencer had a moustache though when he won the '77 title, as did his final opponent, Cliff Thorburn, when he won it in 1980, of course.

                              Anthony Hamilton's got a goatee hasn't he. Forgot him.

                              John Roberts Jnr, the famous world billiard champs from the late 1880's and 1890's sported a huge long beard. He is credited with making a 73 break at snooker in 1908 against Tom Reece.
