CueInAction ... you're post quoted above and my reply to your previous post crossed in the ether ... I'm quite serious about Snooker Plus, it seems an interesting new (old) idea for something a bit different ... as was the Shootout - it may not be to everyone's taste but I found it very enjoyable - seeing all 128 players and, as it happened, two worthy winners over the last two years ...

Power Snooker is something different ... it was embarassing but it was not promoted by either Barry Hearn or the WPBSA ... many seem to hold BH or the WPBSA responsible for that fiasco but they did not promote it ... as I understand it, the independent promoters paid a "sanctioning fee" to the WPBSA to give it their blessing ... it was terrible twice now, the only nice thing I can say about it is it's good to see ITV televising a snooker event ... although I have to ask why the powers-that-be at ITV can't appreciate proper snooker and think dumbed down (American voiceover "POWER ZONE" "POWER BALL") with a drunken audience is good ...

Yeah, its seemed that way to me. I think the more likely the person is to run out of position, the more forgiving the game is for that player (all relative). Any significant deviation from the intended finishing position generally seems to leave some sort of shot on (as long as you're not snookered or tight on the cushion). For pros & top amateurs, the opportunity to continually play for a choice of colour opens up the game even more.

Yes definitely! I feel that pros would be knocking in frame winning breaks all too easily due to the above. Conversely, for amateurs, I'd imagine that the increase in ease of safety due to more (coloured) balls on the table would be the biggest factor. Also, when all colours are on their spots, certain escapes (for example, playing from behind a baulk colour, onto bottom cushion & around the angles to the pack/loose reds near top cushion) become near impossible or at least very difficult due to the purple and orange cutting off significant portions of open table which are needed in this type of escape

Can be played with a spotted white, white ball, and a power cue ball. Substitute white and spotted white for orange and purple.
Harder than you think is a beautiful thing.

Or you could always use two pool balls as I have. For me it's just a gimmick, I can see the point of playing with fewer reds but not of playing with more colours...

I would rather the green ball be replaced by the purple, just so to make the table more colourful and clearly distinguish the colour balls lol...

Feeling you bruv, the green ball is a nightmare to pot from distance, who thought that one up? It should be orange or summat, visible as hell.
