A question about UK Championship

We wanna make a tournament based in the same old format. All matches will be best-of-17 frames (8/9) but the final best-of-31

-Does anybody know which format was used in those finals? 7-7-7-10? 7-8-7-9? 7-9-7-8? 7-8-8-8? Other?

Other person told me now that it was 7-8-7-9 because evening sessions were longer than afternoon

Mmm...if nobody says it here I think that we´ll use in our tournament your 7-7-7-10 because it´s more symetrical

Various formats were used for the best of 31 finals.
1980-1983 were 7,8,7,9
1984 were 7,7,8,9
1985 - 1992 were 7,7,7,10
1993 onwards were reduced to best of 19. It's a pity the powers that be don't return the U.K. final to it's 31 frame format.

It has a close evolution than semifinals and finals in world championship

World Championship semis has the same schedule than UK championship: 7 frames each session, eight frames evening session (UK final second, WC semis first and third) and nine frames final session

One year 7-7-8-9, the same as semis

And 7-7-7-10 that reminds me World Championship final 8-8-8-11 when years before has strange formats like 9-9-8-9 or 7-9-8-11

And I agree, I prefer a best-of-31 frames final.

It´s curious that 1sr qualifying round is a best-of-17(8/9) and final is a best-of-19 (before 9/10 and right now 8-11)

These things are part of snooker, and I like them and nobody else touch it. That´s it. If you want I can talk about it in a political forum
