  • Baulk End and Black End.

    Someone asked on FB y'day 'If the Black is top of the table then why do commentators refer to the white being high on the black when in fact it's low'. Thats roughly what it was, but I've never thought of the Baulk end being bottom and Black being Top of table so is that correct, and are commentators wrong.

    officially the Black spot end is the "Top of the Table" since English Pocket Billiard days when the Red ball was on that spot

    but I do think, some commentators use BOTH the 'official' orientation AND how it looks to the viewers

      Thanks Dean, Yes I agree as most shots on TV are from Black to Baulk, so that makes sense
