I have noticed that too ,played the other night and did some serious practice yesterday ,left the balls on the table for a few hours beforehand and they were nice and warm and seemed to respond really well .Not got them hot like leaving on radiator ,just table temp which is around 25 degrees ,enough to make a good difference .Having a table service April 11th with new cloth fitted

What I did notice when I played at the club this morning is that some of the shots I was potting would not have gone in on my table! The pockets feel like buckets, which is good for me! It doesn’t necessarily mean I play any better but I definitely notice the difference in size! When I got back home I immediately went out and had a practice on my table and the pockets look tiny in comparison! Lol. Next time I go down the club I’m going to try my templates against the club pocket and take a photo. I’m sure they are way bigger!
Next weekend I’m in a comp at the Atack so I’ll probably really notice the change in tables there more than Stratford! Generally the tables are in much worse condition, but then Stratford is only a small club with 4 tables so cheaper to keep them maintained I guess. We’ll see how it goes! I think my main difference is the table lighting! I said this to Tom when he was round about how I struggle to see under the dull club lights, those Louvre style office lights everywhere uses? Funny actually because Tom I think struggles a bit because my table is too bright! Or at least that was one of his many many excuses for loosing 5-1

I think they really need the rubbers changing down there but obviously most guys down the club are use to playing on those tables and think there fine … I don’t like to slag people off but to me the cloths haven’t been fitted tight enough? When I put mine on you can barely move it with your fingers but down the club you can move it, and Steve Perry has only just fitted them, but what do I know? Maybe that’s how they should be and I just stretch mine far too tight? Interestingly I noticed Steve Barton’s table was just as loose after being fitted by Steve? He is only a small guy that would probably blow over with a strong gust of wind so maybe the strength just isn’t there? I dunno…

I wonder whether they leave the cloth a bit slacker in club tables to help stop the idiots tearing it maybe? Sure Mikee will know more.
didn’t know you beat Tom 5-1, don’t think you’ve mentioned it?!

Cue crafty ,just to answer your question on a snooker cloth a slack cloth is very much more prone to ripping ,as the tip from a cue on a slack cloth is is going to bite and dig in ,a tight cloth should slide the tip off easier and skid off the surface .
Steve ,it will be interesting to see how long superfine lasts in a club ( not too long I think ,maybe 7 months ) .New covered tables on the rubber cushions often play slower as the cloth is tight and this restricts the bounce for some time as the tight cushion cloth pulls on the rubber some what .Last edited by mikee; 29 January 2022, 09:59 PM.

Strange?
sounds like a heavy white but it’s not that as you say the balls are the same weight.
warm dry conditions are ideal so if your cloth or slates have damp or moisture in them that would greatly reduce action but you say top works ok. Top will always be easier because of the natural forward motion.
just try cleaning the white and a red in tap hot water for a couple of minutes and just see if that makes a difference. It might help in narrowing down the possible causes as those 2 balls will be clean, dry, and warm.
Also occasionally you can get a dull / dodgy/ or unresponsive white.

RE different table conditions, I think we all get used to our regular surroundings. I've played on identical tables and found a preference for one based on where abouts in a club it's positioned.
Now onto these excuses (definitely biting, reel me in Steve);
Lighting - i've always been used to dark clubs which I think helps to block out things on your peripherals.
Speed of cloth - It's definitely a game changer playing on slow club cloths and going on to fast cloths. You have to hit the cue ball completely differently. I say hit, it's more like a stroke!
That said i'm just a bad loser who can't wait for revenge on Steve LOL Definitely going to end up drawing eachother on sunday!"just tap it in":snooker:
