Joe Johnson was a 150_1 outsider, one of the few that broke the mould.

I don’t fancy Joe to repeat that this year though

Think Joe was a top 16 player but had not really won anything so 150/1. In those days you could get good odds in snooker. IIRC I had John Parrott at 18/1 when he beat Jimmy.

I was seriously thinking Ricky Walden after looking at his recent comeback and steadily getting back to his best and the way he beat Ronnie but last night's performance changed my mind dramatically. Somebody chinese probably but only if they play a fellow countryman in the final as I don't believe any of them could handle a biased Crucible crowd over two days of intense pressure.
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

You're right Nifty, he was 16th place in the rankings at that time so just about. I bet the bookies learned a lesson about Jimmy after that one.

I’m surprised you got that price ,anyone that played Jimmy was odds on to win the final .Parrott was just a Dennis Taylor type winner ,bit like Dott too .Good thing about the World Championship ,you can still win matches playing the odd bad session due to the longer format .

Yeah memory might be failing me a bit. Remember collecting 190 from bookies. Lot of money for me back in 1991 and only betted fivers and tenners. Maybe it was forecast the finalists. 18/1 rings a bell for summit. Definitely remember odds were very good.

So far, Neil looks to be the fav with 5 votes, with Yan, Higgins and ROS tied in the 2nd place having secured 2 votes each.

So now itΒ΄s about time, and Neil Robertson still looks like the player to beat. That said itΒ΄s very rare that the winner of the last tournament before the cruicible stand as a winner. A month ago I was ready to write off the class of 92 but especially Higgins and OΒ΄Sullivan has played very well recently and Williams also has has his share of unlucky defeats. Selby is a total mystery but usually you have to scrape him of the table at the cruicible so stranger things has happened than a title defence. I donΒ΄t quite think that Xintong and Bingtao are matured yet, but who knows.

Outside top 16 Ding has shown signs of a return to form and would probably have the crowd behind him against most players. As always I hope for him, but have my serious doubts though. And it looks like there could be a lot of very strong qualifiers this year with the possibility of Ding, Gilbert, Carter, Vafei, Selt and Wilson qualifying and they will be a test to anyone.

Selby is indeed a mystery at the moment but his health comes first I suspect. I'm not sure he is ready yet to return but I maybe proved wrong and I prefer seeing a confident Selby playing than a Selby that is clearly not right or ready. We know he has a B and a C game that is capable of winning. Otherwise i have absolutely no clue this year who could win it. I voted for Kyren as he usually goes deep and is due a big win and is capable.

I voted for Robbo but I can’t resist Mark Williams at 33/1 with Betfred. Maybe each way?
