  • Snooker cue tip

I know that generally 8.5 tips are for English pool but I want to know if it’s also possible to play snooker with a 8.75 tip ?

I would strongly advise not to. But Murphy plays with one. One of my friend used to play snooker with a 7 mil tip.

It's diffucult to hit the center of the cue ball consistently as there is a smaller tip to aim at. Combine that with long pots and you could miss more often. Your cueing must be very accurate if you want to play with such a small tip.

Good advice not to drop lower for snooker unless an accomplished player at a decent level who is used to less than 9mm. HUGE difference below 9.5mm and a very noticeable difference in half a mm from 9.5 to 10mm

Over a 12tf table when you need a defensive shot rolled down the length of the table the difference in off centre hit with a smaller tip will mean you can miss the object ball completely not to mention a large amount of other slight differences on many shots over distance.

My ferrule is 9.8 and I still have some overhang with the tip .Why would you order 8.75 for snooker if you don’t know why you want to play with such a size .

Imo, If you have reached that level you don't need it. I'm guessing you are a regular century break player, what do you think you are missing out on? Do you not know anyone with a pool cue that you could borrow for an hour or so to see if it's what you need?
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Better to try out a few cues at any shop local to you. Otherwise, you end up in the category of buying a cue and then figuring out if it stays or not.
