Karnehm and hillman table

Hi, how are you all doing? Not been on for a while, hope you are all good.
we have a karnehm and hillman table in our club. We have had it for years and is a great table to play on. Unfortunately one of our corner pockets has a broken corner plate. This is an alloy plate and I noticed our other tables are brass. Another issue we have is middle pocket bounce outs. This is a pity as it can ruin a good break. Apart from that it’s been a great table. I found replacement corner plates that are brass and was wondering if by changing these over from alloy to brass would this help with the middle bag bounce out issues?

Contact Geoff Large mate at GCL billiards. He loves these tables and know a lot about them.

to show money, just put the number and GBP etc on pound sign. It’s a script issue on the software.

I believe Robert Reed has a solution for this problem on old B&W tables. It may be worth getting in touch with him also.

There is not a solution. To middle pocket bounce out on old tables especially B&W tables ,unless you change the cushion cappings to wider ones ,it’s the main reason I sold my old table .Geoff Large has an old thread on this forum from years ago on here describing this problem .Most post 1980; tables are ok ,the old billiard tables just can’t take the hard shots in to the middle pockets .As well as old tables are good with quality wood and craftsmanship,there is a trade off with how the modern game is played. .

Cheers for replies guys, I thought the bounce out was due to the alloy plate being a little springy and that the brass would be more solid and maybe sort the bounce out issue. Also thought if the brass plate didn’t fix it I would remove the leather and pack some thin foam under the leather to soften and cushion the bounce.
Thanks guys I will look up Geoff’s post, he helped me years ago when I built my old enbuild table, gave me good advice.

The problem is the cushion cappings are not wide enough so the pocket plate can’t go any further back .Packing foam under the leather won’t work either .it will make it worse heavy ,brass pocket plates are much better than light aluminium ones as they absorb the impact from the ball .

The club I used to play in had a table where the balls used to bounce out of the middle pockets. I attached angular inserts to the back of the the middle pockets which directed the ball downwards. It made it better that it was originally. But it wasn't perfect.
