Thank you mikee, do you have a link to the lights you use please.

As Mike has said, you do not have to get to Peradon /Thurston for their units which are over priced, you can go for any double unit 5ft long, two per table.
"Dextra Duet" type with tubes or LED your choice but they should have louvres to help stop shadows and the tubes should be high frequency type to stop flicker

They were put in by Thurston (same as peradon) as we had them on a maintenance contract.
Essentially they are 5feet long units with two fluorescent tubes in each with louvres - as you can see from the photo previously shown they are aligned down the middle of the table butted together on the short end.
I don't know the wattage of the tubes (I have asked in the past and not got an answer
But they are the Bright Daylight high frequency type tubes.

Thanks again. My two concerns (when not buying from a snooker supplier) are, what wattage should I get and should they be 'cool-white' or 'Daylight'

I do know that if you get LED units the wattages are much less than ordinary flourescent ones.

That's the trouble with techie stuff, it takes a bit of effort to get your round some of the terms. I will check out these details with those supplied by the snooker outlets and try to match them as close as I can.

It's interesting to see that they should have the louvres, as my first thoughts were that these would cause shadows. But hey, what do I know.................not a lot😜

the listed wattage on all light emitting units are different as wattage is energy usage, lumins if the amount of light given out but often the old "Watt" of an incandescent bulb is a common number to indicate what sort of illumination you will get
as you have probably found is on tinternet there are equivalency charts for different types but often when you get to a "bulb" it will have several numbers for comparison.

I have asked the manager of my club what "wattage" we use

Don’t be fooled by those on Amazon! The guy is selling cheap office lights posing as snooker lights! If you notice the picture with the snooker table is a Cuesports or maybe Peradon which have curved sides, then the photo of the light he is selling has square sides!

For me you want to go for the Daylight bulbs. The warm bulbs tend to make the table and balls look a night orange, and the cool ones make everything look blue

                          edit# these:

get 6500K Daylight bulbs and a pair of sunglasses!

                          These fittings!
                          https://www.lights.co.uk/slimline-t8...-two-bulb.html

You’ll need two and the just bolt together! You might need a wire fixing kit for hanging from a tall ceiling, or you can screw directly into a ceiling with a suitable fixing. They’re very light weight.

The louvres are designed to direct the light down and out, so when you’re stood up away from the light you’re not being blinded!

I always thought as well to bounce the light around different angles so you got less direct light on the balls so less shadows

Interesting. Here, a bulb means this💡.

We call those long cylindrical bulbs, tube lights.
