get 6500K Daylight bulbs and a pair of sunglasses!

      These fittings!

You’ll need two and the just bolt together! You might need a wire fixing kit for hanging from a tall ceiling, or you can screw directly into a ceiling with a suitable fixing. They’re very light weight.
Thanks for that info Danger Steve, having looked at these it works out at £300.00 per table (using the LED tubes) plus some hanging kits which all in all doesn't seem too bad to me.

I have been looking for some hanging kits for these lights. There seems to be plenty of them around but none of them are long enough for my needs. I will need something in the region of 6 to 7 feet long as our club has very high ceilings. Anyone know where I migh get any?

Might be worth buying the cheapest/shortest and buying chain by the metre ( on Amazon ) and adding it to the kit with "S" hooks. I'm sure that's what Sparks do in those situations.

Note that Geoff Large recommends that these duet-type units are hung about 5ft above the playing service.

Yes I've already sussed that method, thanks. Basic lengths of wire are quite cheap.

I spotted on the Peradon site that they recommend 115cm which is 3ft 9 inches. Can you point me in the direction of Geoff Large's recommendation. I found him on the net but haven't spotted anything to do with the lighting side of things.

You only plug the iron in to heat up then unplug to iron , you do not have it plugged into a socket when ironing , so any socket in the room is ok to plug the iron into.

if you are having underfloor heating , then it may not be required to heat under the table as all heat will rise , some go over the top and have to feel heat under the hand when playing , any temperature above 60F will be ok ,so a dehumidifier may be required .
I find three small oil filled radiators will keep a table playing well and the cloth dry. rather than the tube heaters just under the slate.

lighting is important and Dextra are the lowest price lights you can buy , but the grill takes some getting out so look for quick release buttons on some more expensive lighting just in case you have to change a tube or cleaning , don't forget the lighting has to be High Frequency with white light tube's .
Dextra's are around £110 to £120 a pair including tubes and vat .
4 to 5 foot above playing height is the preferred distance to hang or fix the lighting.

                  Table ?

What type of table are you buying

there are pro's and con's to the type that are available , Most go for steel block cushions and if that is you're choice then I would recommend the Riley Aristocrat over any other table.
If you fancy the better Welsh slate older tables then Burroughs and watts or any of the better make tables such as Thurston , Orme , George Wright , to name just three .
There are pro's and con's with most tables , mainly down to pocket openings and pocket plate type .
what ever table you get make sure the slate is true and well supported underneath , and if possible double bolted leg jointed.

if you find a table at a good price and you require it picking up and setting up then contact me.

                  Geoff
This was it I think, bear in mind this is quite old and a few things have changed but not the height (Dean can thank me later and use this non searching time to play snooker) 😉

If you can, I would suggest fitting the light say 4ft above the table, clamp the steel cable temporarily, then see if you’re happy with the light coverage on the table! If not just keep adjusting up or down until you’re happy and fix it at that! Down at my club they have the light about 5 feet above and personally I think they look a bit dull compared to mine which is more like 4 foot. But again… it all comes down to what tubes/bulbs you get and how bright they are! Hence the recommendation to try in a few places before final placement.

I will add the lights for our three tables are at approx 4.5ft due to matching the lowest due to the low ceiling

I forgot the "4 to" bit
                      thanks CC

Revived the thread for another question. When you switch your table lights on Dean, do they flicker whilst they are 'booting up'?

My experience of flourescent lights is that they do tend to stutter on start-up, whereas the LED's in my garage come on immediately just like ordinary bulbs.

                        Thanks again for any input.

they do, but very minimal, barely noticeable, until you mention it
I think the High Frequency tubes are better than the "normal" tubes for this characteristic.

I know what you’re talking about! The old strip lights people use to have in the kitchen or garage , they would spend half an hour flickering before they finally came on, sometimes you have to hit it at one end!! Lol

No! These lights you’re looking at are nothing like that! Mine kinda come on slowly, like a few seconds delay, then they light up! At first they are not 100% brightness, maybe 80%? After a few minutes they are at 100%. The lights down the club do exactly the same when I put my money into the meter!

I installed four 2' x 2' LED panels above my 10 x 5 table. They are in a drop ceiling and could have been on a dimmer but it was fine without it.
