  • Kyren Wilson's wiggle

I've noticed that Kyren does a little wiggle before getting down to take the shot, and one or two other players sometime do it too. Is it just a personal quirk in their game or a technique to try and improve body position for aiming?

It's the latter, but not for aiming... what looks like wiggling is a form of making micro adjustments to his balance.
And it's actually a smart thing to do because any imbalances in your stance when finally delivering the cue will throw it off marginally.

Footwork is essential in almost any sport because of this. Golf pros do the exact same thing before they strike the ball and Steffi Graf's legendary "wiggling" granted her superior balance control throughout her entire career.

I wondered if it was for that. But he does the wiggle with his feet together than spreads them to get down on the shot, so surely any minor adjustment from that wiggle is lost anyway?

He’s basically an annoying player to watch

I'd say it's part of the process getting into the right balance of his stance... it may seem manneristic but in the context of a motional routine it's not.

            I think it's just a habit he's picked up.

That wiggle is very common with players who use Sight Right coaching . It’s got something to do with alignment but not sure exactly what .

Has the Sight Right technique been validated that it improves play? I've heard of it but don't know much about it.

Ask Mark Williams or Stuart Bingham, they'd say it works okay

Like everything it’s not for everybody but as previously posted Mark Williams career has been revived because of it .

I wasn’t aware Bingham was or had used it though .

Yep, Stuart worked 1-1 with Feeney for some time before and after his WC win.

Wasn't Bingham along with Martin Gould, Rory McLeod and a couple of others not the original group that tried it. Bingham had it on his cue, then broke away from Feeny and went with riley, who must have had their own version as Bingham had a slightly different one on his cue.
