  • Cue advise for a older amateur.

I play once a week with a few friends but very keen. I currently have a cue from a local person who makes them from the cheap blanks he gets from China.

I think I made the mistake of getting a cue that is too heavy for me, I don't have issues holding the cue but find even with the softest shot I hit the ball too hard. My max break is around 40 but struggling with cue ball pace,

I have read that a cue that is heavier than 19oz can restrict you cue stroke unless you are a bulky guy.

My cue is 21oz as I use to have a heavy cue when I was young.

So thinking of getting a new cue, lighter and was looking on eBay at maybe a Peradon cue, but not sure what is good, or should I go new?

Looking around £200 - £250 and needs 3/4 to fit my case.

    Any advice or suggestions?

    Thanks

I was just looking at Green Baize and they do some lovely cues and prices seem quite reasonable.

May have a chat and see what my options are.

      Thanks

I would definitely recommend that you find somewhere where you can visit and test their cues. It is absolutely pointless buying a cue from the internet because you will have no idea how it plays. There are many retail outlets dotted around the country that have showrooms and plenty of cues to choose from. Good luck and let us know what you buy.
