  • Cue tip problem. Pleaseeeeee helllllp

    Hi

I am from Pakistan and here we don’t have any experts who cal install cue tips so I need your help. I am a good player but not very good. Tip issues are my main problem which effects my game.

I have a strange tip problem while shaping my cue tip. My cue tip is always down from one side. I prefer dome shape. No matter how I shape it gets down from one side. its like cue tip is short from one side. A dent in one side of the tip. Results are unintentional side spin I won’t be able to play straight shots coz cue ball gets drifted away from the line of aim. Not having control on the cue ball coz i can feel where i am hitting tip contact is not there. Its not in my cue action I can clearly feel the tip shape is not good. I used elk master BD and century G3 also and results are same. I thought there is something wrong with the cue so I changed my cue. Currently i have Maximus legend cue but having same issue. Tried tip shaper too but no luck then i thought may be i am trimming my tip wrong so I purchased a cue tip trimmer but the problem is still there. When I install a tip and start shaping there should be a circle forming in the “centre” of the tip right??? It forms slightly uncentered and tip is not properly round. Pics are attached

    Waiting for your response.

    Thanks

Do you hold your cue in the same way on every single shot? Ie sight down the grain meaning every shot hits the same point on the tip? This will make a softer tip become uneven over time. If this is the case maybe try a harder tip.

Mmm , very low profile tip! I used to favour this but these day go higher with a firmer tip. When a tip is only a few mm it's gonna show more.

Cue crafty Thank you so much for a quick reply. When I install a new tip and start shaping this happens always not matter tip is higher or trim down to the ferrule. Is it in the tip or I am doing something wrong?

As said above, try a harder tip. Also, that tip is too short in height. You need to change it. Another thing is to burnish the sides of the tip, that will help it keep its shape for longer. To get a perfect dome, you can just use a sandpaper which is time consuming or you can buy a tool that shapes it quicker like the Willards cue tip shaper little snookie 0.250. You can first shape the tip with a sand paper and then use this tool to get the perfect dome. Oh and that shaper lasts lifelong unless you lose it.

Also it is not perfectly in rounded. Why its happens? Even if I install G3 tip which is a very good tip
